# How is the CAEC different from the GED

The CAEC exam covers the same **five subject areas** as the earlier Canadian GED test:

- **Language Reading**
- **Language Writing**
- **Mathematics (With & Without Calculator)**
- **Science**
- **Social Studies**

However, the CAEC includes more **Canadian-focused content** and is available in a computer-based** digital format**, though some jurisdictions still offer a paper-based option.
